Up

Through trading, with my own homebuilt lures, I came in posession of some spinnerbaits that where handmade by Henk Roos. Below a review about them.

My first impression is that these spinnerbaits look very proffessional. They are built with extreme care and have razorsharp single hooks. If desired the barb of the hook can be easily pinched, in order to fish barbless. Because the single hook stands upward the spinnerbait will barely pickup dirt, something that can't be said about combinations with a treble.

The hookdecoration is made out of a large amount of rubber strings that where made using the "skirt factory". An explanation about the use of this skirtfactory can be found on this site. If you fish the spinnerbait with irreggular pulls the skirt makes beautiful wave-like motions. The molded lead head has an unusual shape and has very nice eyes attached. This builts up the attraction enormously. The frame is built out of stainless steel strand wire. The decoration on the top of the spinnerbaits contains out of 1 or 2 spinnerblades in a diversity of colors. On my request Henk built some different variations for me. And Henk builts his spinnerbaits in different sizes and weights aswell.

The fieldtest

The most important thing off course is how the spinnerbait performs in the field. How does it run trough the water and can it resist fierce pike attacks? Let's find out! I decide to fish from a bellyboat on a small clear lake, with a harbour that has a hard bottom and a reasonable amount of pike and perch. In the clear water of this harbour I can follow the spinnerbaits action perfectly. It runs nice and straight through the water, without spinning around it's imaginary axis. Even at higher speed, simulating trolling, the spinnerbait reacts examplary.

During this session with the bellyboat I caught me some nice pikes. And even after several attack and catches the wire is completely straight and the spinnerbait ready for use. Very good. Because a bellyboat and fotography don't mix I start another session. This time I picked a nice canal and fish it from the banks. I'm fishing right above the bottom and that gives me a reasonable chance of catching a pike-perch. But that's not the case. No pike-perch, but instead I catch a nice pike. And that gives us a picture to accompany this story, for those who value that.

Concluding I think this is a great lure, and can recomment it to you all.
