These miniature jerkbaits have been built by Luc De Lange. Lets call them flippers for the text's sake. Because the standard large sized and very heavy jerkbaits bothered him, Luc decided to design a small jerkbait that was smaller in size and that could be used in a wider range of waters. According to my humble opinion, he has really succeeded in doing just that. This small, slow sinking flipper has a length of about 11.5cm (a little under 5") and only weighs 30g (a little over 1oz). You can easily fish it on a stiff spinningrod. I prefer a short 6 foot doublehanded baitcaster with a castingweight of 25g (about 1oz). When you fish it back with subtle twitches, it flanks really nicely. I feel you can compare it with a dying fish that tries to balance itself after having laid on its side for a while. You know, trying to get up straight again. I must add that this flipper sinks really slow, about 5cm (2") per second, so you can let it hang there for a while. Ideal for smaller and shallow drains like in the polder (Holland), which can be seen on the picture I added. This is Luc with his first pike of the day on his first polder-fishingtrip. It's a 91cm pike, taken on a natural patterned flipper. He even missed several more that day! If you fish it with slow, longer pulls it wiggles like a crankbait but makes a small swing to one side after the pull (left or right). To continue with my dying fish-theory, just the last gasp and slap of the tailfin.

Even on the larger bodies of water, Luc has made some fine catches on them. Especially on days when other lures failed to produce takes! I know that we'll be seeing some fine baits from Luc in the near future and I hope we will be able to show them to you then. I almost am afraid to use them because they swim so nicely. But Luc uses a very hard lacquer as a finish so they will withstand many strikes from pike.

Luc, thanks again for the flippers. I know I will enjoy them for a long time to come!
