Perch on a jerkbait.
This summer I contacted Dirk, one of the builders of this website, and also the
builder of several fine running lures. He asked what he could build for me
because I had sent him some lures he had a hard time getting hold off. I
requested a lure that would run just below the surface and to which I could add
a plastic tail from a shads or a twister.
About two weeks later, an envelope
was delivered to my mailbox that contained an incredibly beautifully finished
jerkbait with a metal spring attached to the tail. I could screw a plastic tail
on it, so it was just as I requested. Of course it had to be tested the next
time I went fishing. After about 10 casts I had a strike. A hard bang on my rod
made me suspect a pike had taken it. Nothing could be further from the truth
when I felt the resistance diminish and I saw that fish fight near the surface.
It was a perch and actually that was the last fish I had in mind. To me this is
a lure that will produce several species of predatory fish for me in the
future. I will keep you posted when this jerk-shad has scored again. Dirk,
thank you and I hope to enjoy it for a long time to come.
