Wood
Broomstick handles of 24 mm thick. Choose pieces without obvious grain
Leadholes
- Front: 12 mm diameter and 12 mm deep
- Back: 12 mm diameter and 10 mm deep
Weight
Make sure that the leadholes are exactly centered on the Tekneek.
Shape
Place a piece of 22 cm in a wood turning lathe. Clamp it between the two centers.
Make sure that both ends of the broomstick are fixed exactly in the center of the wood.
The actual Tekneek will be approximately 18 cm long
First we will shape the tail Use a thin chisel to make two slots about 5 mm deep at both ends of the Tekneek,
each at approximately 1,5 - 2 cm from the ends. This will leave 18 cm in between.
Now use a half-moon shaped chisel to narrow the tail end of the Tekneek. Start at 2,5 cm from the tail and slightly narrow the tail end to 14 mm diameter. Do this by pressing the chissel against the wood and move towards the tail end at the same time. Round of the edge.
Now it's time to shape the neck of this glider. A feature that is so typical for this Tekneek glider. Use the same chisel to shape an indention at 20 mm from the front end of about 3 - 4 mm deep and 15 mm wide. Shaped like a semi-circular shape.
Sand the Tekneek properly, especially the turned parts. Be Aware, the lathe turns at high speed and a lot of friction
will arise. This could lead to rising temperature and therefore burns. After the sanding take the Tekneek out of the lathe and use a handsaw to remove the dovel at the tail end of the lure. Remove the front dovel aswell. Clamp the lurebody in a vise and use an electrical saw to saw off the head of the lure at a downward angle of 60°. As shown on the drawing.
Now drill the leadholes and fill these with lead. The leadholes will reach to about the central longitudinal axis of the lure blank. It is at this line that the nose and tail screw-eyes are positioned. Use 26 mm long stainless steel screw-eyes. The belly hookhanger is positioned about 6,5 cm from thetip of the head. Weight this lure so it sinks slowly. Too slow is not possible.
If you want to perfect the shape of your Tekneek, use a wood file to file a flat tip on the nose of the lure, about 3 mm high. This has a possitive influence on the action.Dit heeft een gunstig effect
op de actie.

The Tekneek is a sinking glider. You can variate lenghts from 14 to 20 cm.
