Jerkbaits

First of all I would like to compliment you on your wonderful site.

Ever since I was 8 years old, which is now 33 years ago, I got hooked on lure fishing. I would very much like to share an experience with you all. Somewhere in the eighties I made my first tubeflies and bucktailspinners. I had quite a bit of success on them. The experience of catching on your own handmade lures and flies is something unforgettable! What a rush!

After having read an article from Diederik in a magazine called “Dé Roofvis”, I made some jerkbaits but I left them somewhere in a cupboard without having used them. After I discovered this website, I decided to have another go at it. The first jerkbait I made, was the “Perchbait”. What a successful lure that proved to be!! Together with my brother I went out to try and catch some pike with this lure. We soon arrived at one of our well-known spots that has a very good stock of pike, pike that are very close to jumping through hoops if you catch my drift. The fishing pressure there is enormous. We soon made our first casts

We could hardly believe it but after having fished for one hour, we had caught 7 pike. No real large ones, but still ... My brother with his good old spinner, spoons and crankbaits didn’t catch a thing. We both went a little crazy: myself from catching all those pike, my brother from watching me catch all those pike! It had been a long time since we had such a good day. Unfortunately that first “Perchbait” found an early grave in the water because it got snagged on a huge obstacle. Even 30lbs dyneema couldn’t change that.

The next batch of “Perchbaits”, ludela’s and miniature cobb’s gliders are ready for their last coat of lacquer. My heart beats fast in expectation!

Friendly greetings
